Boulder Creek Golf Club is built on 200 acres of spectacular land that was the end result of the ice age. Over 100 feet of elevation changes and the unique contour of the property make it one of the most beautiful golf courses in, Ohio. Each hole was painstakingly built to the natural topography utilizing the natural features of the property to their fullest advantage.
I was first made aware of the property in April of 1997 by Eleanor Kline, a local realtor who had a 100-acre farm for sale which now encompasses the first half of the course. I then walked the remaining vacant land owned by Bob Corbett (holes 11 and 12) and immediately knew this was the perfect property to build a golf course on. I was able to purchase both properties and began the arduous task of routing the course through the densely forested land. My knowledge came from the writings of the greatest golf architects from the past and present. The names include Alister MacKenzie, A.W. Tillinghast, Donald Ross, Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Fazio. I was able to eliminate all of the pitfalls and mistakes in the final design, and without their knowledge, I could not have achieved the end result.
Every person who loves golf has two dreams, one is to be able to play on the PGA tour and the second is to be able to design and build a golf course. I am fortunate to have been able to do the latter and achieve national acclaim for the course that I built. My goal was to build a championship layout that could be played by varying skill levels because of the many tees, and to have each hole be truly unique.
